45 days; TRAINING

MAPFRE INSULAR; MY TRAINING ON-THE-JOB PROGRAM

       I.   INTRODUCTION
The primary role of the Legal and Recovery Department is to provide legal advice to the High Representative and to the departments and units within the Office of High Representative, in particular on issues involving the interpretation of the General Framework Agreement for Peace. Also analyses draft legislation and play a key role in the provision of legal service for all other Office of the High Representative Departments. Due to the important role of constitutional and legal arguments in the political and economic life of Mapfre Insular, the Department also takes an active role in developing new solutions. To this effect, it works closely with domestic institutions at all levels of government and legal drafting process. The department initiates litigation in case of court examinations, and the legal staff members are responsible for creating and enforcing ordinances and gathering existing claims in favors of the company. The staff of the Legal and Recovery Department includes lawyers’ expert and it is divided in Units specialized in particular fields of law.
Legal and Recovery Department, is also responsible for maintaining legal materials, producing periodic reports on the status of pending legislation and debt recovery.

            II. NATURE OF WORK
The usual thing I used to do at work is sorting and filing thousands of bonds and secretary certificates, writing in Notarial Book or we called it “Bluebook”, typing some agreements, deliver documents, the “NIIS”, Registered Mail and Courier  and one thing assigned to me that I know other trainee experienced it to is to “Xerox”.
Among this projects assigned to me, I could probably say that sorting and filing was the most difficult thing to do. To arrange it from dates and descending order of the document number wasn’t really an enjoyable thing to do. Especially when I am the only trainee doing it, because my partner finished already the number of hours required in OJT. So then, I don’t have any choice but to do it alone. Giving time to it, focus and being dedicated is what I did. It took us 2 to 3 weeks I guess to finish it and it took me about 3 days to finish the remaining documents. The coverage of the bonds and certificates we sort and file is from September of 2010 to January 2011.
Writing in Bluebook wasn’t a joke too. Especially in my case, I’m not a fan of writing something I don’t enjoy. Write and then stamp, write and then stamp. Repeated assigned work caused boredom. But take note, I finished three bluebook and I am proud of it. Like I need to go to the person who is written there, and they need to sign it. Isn’t it a good job? Seeing your finished work and seeing persons signing it? Nothing compares to the gladness I’m feeling.
Delivering of documents is not also an easy thing to do. I am so shy in going somewhere just to give a piece of paper/documents. But doing it for so many times, it boost my confidence. And I’m thankful to Atty. Co and Ms. Ramos for asking that favour to me.
Doing Registered Mail and for Courier, was very easy. The mail is about the demand letter given to a specific person that they need to pay the damages, etc. I just have to fold the paper and put it inside the envelope. Very easy work assigned.
And lastly, to Xerox lots of documents is enjoyable. But it is also the most tiring thing to do. That you are just standing, you cannot sit because it is a one by one process.
But above all of this assigned work to me, I enjoyed all of it, a lot!

III.            LEARNING
First of all, OJT is one method by which students is given a chance to apply the theories and computations that they have learned from the school. And because of this, it helps me acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting.
By the time I was assigned in Recovery and Legal department, It comes to my mind that I have to give my best, and act as professional though I’am only a trainee.
I have many goals that I have set for myself over the course of my life.   Most of these goals I have set for myself, I have achieved with hard work and dedication.
In 45 days of having my On-The-Job-Training in Mapfre|Insular, I’ve learned so many things already. I distinguish the functions of different sections, department and divisions which we are required to do so. I already define what the organization expects in terms of work and behaviour. I should say now that, I am more of comfortable and flexible in handling papers that’s rush. Confidence is really important and how you interact with other people. Especially handling clients that have lots of question about the letter they’ve received and how are they going to pay. Respect is very important. Especially in answering phone calls, you have to say “po” and “opo” because you don’t know if you are already talking in one of the boss. This is my day-to-day living in office. Atty. Co and Ms. Ramos was the one who act as my teacher. They taught me how to treat people, as I wanted to be treated.
Work ethics is really important in a company. People are expected to act in a right way, talk in a right way. We wanted to be treated right, so then, we should treat other people the right way. And being part of Mapfre|Insular, I should build my future by using my personal capabilities, be professional and earn respect.
This, after all, was and is the best experience anyone can have. “Experience is the greatest teacher.”

          IV.  CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
In 45 days of staying in Mapfre Insular as a trainee, is a privilege. To be part of their family feels like floating in the air.  This is merely not by chance but a choice and destiny. As a trainee, I therefore conclude that, not everything in this world is easy to achieve.  Today's work place is very competitive. But we don't have to be competitive at the expense of others but as way of bringing improving the life of everybody around us because when you improve things you improve them for everyone. The world is more 'connected' than ever before. You just need to have a variety of skills that will give you the competitive edge you need to succeed.
Good listening skills makes me more productive and help get along better with others, and allow me to work better in a team-based environment. Knowing how to use computer is very important. Focus on moving forward with a hunger for improving upon yourself. Be your biggest competitor and at the very least, you will become better at what you do.
To be a friend and to have friends is one of the noblest goals for which we can aim. I could say that, I earned friends, true friends. We share a lot of things. We get along though we have lots of differences.
I think I don’t have any recommendation to Mapfre Insular just to improve their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. Because there’s nothing wrong in the way they interact with other people and how they face problems.
What I wanna say is, Thank you to Mapfre Insular family for making me one of their interns and showing me how corporate world works. Having a family that would teach you a lot of things that’s very useful is a blessing. It’s not for them, but for me, for us. For us to achieve what we want in future.
      Thank you Mapfre Insular Family!

TRUE FRIENDS ♥

Friends come, friends go. But a true friend is there to watch you grow.

To be a friend and to have friends is one of the noblest goals for which we can aim. Friendship is complex and has many facets, but it certainly exhibits the following five attributes: (1)Friendship means understanding and being understood. (2)Friendship means affirming and being affirmed. (3)Friendship means accepting and being accepted. (4)Friendship means helping and being helped. (5)Friendship means forgiving and being forgiven. – David J. Claasen

Searching for the meaning of friendship has always been a burning question. However as soon as we meet our friends all these questions get answered automatically. The answer to what is the meaning of friendship lies within our hearts, because true friendship can only be felt, and not expressed. Something so pure and essential is not always visible to the eye, but is felt by the heart.

The best of friends,
Can change a frown,
Into a smile,
when you feel down.
The best of friends,
Will understand,
Your little trials,
And lend a hand.
The best of friends,
Will always share,
Your secret dreams,
Because they care.
The best of friends,
Worth more than gold,
Give all the love,
A heart can hold.

"The language of friendship is not words but meanings. Without wearing any mask we are conscious of; we have a special face for each other."

ONE OF A KIND

"A human being is a single being.
Unique and unrepeatable." -Eileen Caddy

I AM SPECIAL.
Live your dream
and wear your passion :)
No one else can be found who has my handwriting. Nobody anywhere has my taste for food, clothing, music ad art. No one sees things just I do. In all of the time, there's been no one who laughs like me, nor one who cries like me. And what makes me cry of laugh will never produce identical laughter and tears from anybody else ever.

I am the only one in all creation who has set of abilities. Oh, there will always be somebody who is better at one of the things I am good at. But no one in the universe can reach the quality of my combination of talents, ideas, abilities and feelings. Like a room full of musical instruments, some may excel alone, but none can match the symphony sound when all are played together. I am a symphony. Through all of eternity, no one will look, talk, think or do like me. I am special, I am rare. And in all rarity, there is great value, I need not to attempt ti imitate others. Yes, I celebrate our differences. I am special. I am beginning to see that God made me special for a purpose. He must have a job for me that no one else can do as well.

Out of billions of applicants, one is qualified, only one has the right combination of what it takes. That one is me, because I am special! ♥
You don’t have to feel like a wasted space.
You’re original, cannot be replaced.
If you only knew what the future holds, after a hurricane comes a rainbow.
Maybe there's a reason why all the doors are closed, so you could open one,
that leads you to the perfect road.
Like a lightning bolt your heart will glow. And when it’s time, you’ll know.
YOU SHINE, BRIGHTER THAN THE MOON. :)

I have to live with myself, and so I want to be fit for myself to know. I want to be able, as days go by, always to look myself straight in the eye. I don't want to stand with the setting sun, and hate myself for things I have done. I don't want to keep on a closet shelf a lot of secrets about myself, and fool myself, as I come and go, into thinking that nobody else will know the kind of a woman I really am; I don't want to dress up myself in shame. I want to go out with my head erect, I want to deserve all men's respect; But here in the struggle for fame and pelf I want to be able to like myself I don't want to look at myself and know that I'm bluster and bluff, an empty show. I can never hide myself from me; I see what others may never see. I know what others may never know, I never can fool myself, and so, whatever happens, I want to be self-respecting and conscience free. -Edgar A. Guest
